Garden Sheds & Bespoke Garden Buildings in Newcastle & Nationwide
Northern Garden Sheds Ltd is a proud, family-run business established in 2011 and based in the heart of the North East in Newcastle upon Tyne. We design and manufacture high-quality sheds, summerhouses and garden buildings, with nationwide delivery across the UK.
Our Managing Director, David Clayton, was awarded Young Business Person of the Year 2013 at the Journal Business Awards and also received the prestigious David Goldman Award for Innovation and Enterprise, recognising our commitment to quality, innovation and customer care.
We take pride in offering superior build quality that sets us apart from many mass-produced alternatives. We encourage all customers to compare our specifications — from timber thickness to construction methods — and see the difference for themselves.
All of our sheds come as standard with a tongue-and-groove floor, providing greater strength, stability and longevity. Many competitors use cheaper sawn board flooring, but we believe in building garden buildings that are designed to last.
We offer a FREE FITTING SERVICE within 50 miles of our workshop (for orders placed outside of eBay)
Delivery and fitting up to 220 miles at an additional cost
Nationwide courier delivery-only options available

Tanalised® Pressure-Treated Timber
All of our timber is pressure treated using the Tanalised® process, which forces preservative deep into the wood under high vacuum and pressure. This provides outstanding protection against:
- Rot and fungal decay
- Insect attack
- Weathering and moisture
This treatment delivers an expected service life of up to 60 years for internal timbers and up to 30 years for external timbers, even in demanding outdoor environments. The green tint naturally fades to a warm honey brown and then to a silver-grey over time.
No Sheet Materials — Ever
We never use OSB, plywood or chipboard in any of our buildings. Every shed is constructed using solid tongue-and-groove timber, ensuring a stronger, longer-lasting and more premium finish.
Requirements
Free Installation – Site Requirements
To qualify for our free fitting service, your garden and installation area must meet the following requirements. These ensure your building can be installed safely, correctly, and to the highest standard.
1. Base Requirements
A complete, flat and solid spirit level base must be prepared before delivery.
If you intend to use sleepers or a timber frame please contact us to discuss the requirements before ordering.
2. Access Requirements
There must be clear and unobstructed access to the base, including a minimum height clearance of 7ft 8in so panels can be carried safely into position.
(Standard doorways are not suitable for this.)
If your access is restricted, please contact us before ordering — in most cases we can provide a suitable solution.
For insurance and safety reasons, our installation team cannot lift buildings over garages, houses, or other structures.
3. Working Clearance
We require at least 8 inches of clearance around all sides of the building. This allows space for roof overhangs, fascia boards, and for our team to work safely and accurately.
Important Notice
If your base or access is not suitable on the day of delivery:
- Your building will be delivered but not installed
- The free fitting service will be forfeited
- A return installation fee will apply if we need to come back (cost depends on building size and location)
To avoid delays or additional charges, we strongly recommend checking your site carefully before your delivery date.
Guarantee
12 month guarantee is offered with all our sheds and summer houses (including roofing felt).
Maintenance & Continued Care
Please note as the timber is tanalised pressure treated it is wet and needs to dry out when the building is first installed, this can take up to 4 weeks however it could be considerably longer in the winter months due to the colder temperatures.
We advise not using the shed for the first 2 weeks after installation and leaving your doors and windows open as much as possible to help speed up the drying out process.
If you are planning on insulating your building we advise leaving a minimum of 3 months before doing so, again this may be longer in the winter months due to the colder temperatures.
Our buildings do not have any ventilation and it is advised to open your doors at least every 2-3 days to prevent condensation from occurring. If you are not planning on using your building regularly then we strongly advise adding air vents which will help with condensation. We offer the service of fitting air vents at a cost of £60 for 2.
Due to the moisture content of pressure-treated (tanalised) timber, temporary surface mould may occasionally develop, particularly in damp or poorly ventilated conditions. This mould is superficial and does not affect the structural performance or preservative treatment of the timber. Routine care, including improved ventilation, gentle cleaning with a mild fungicidal wash or diluted household disinfectant, and allowing the timber to dry thoroughly, will effectively remove surface mould. Ongoing airflow and periodic maintenance will help minimise reoccurrence and ensure the shed remains in optimal condition.
